Wurmlinger Chapel

who is from the west to Tübingen on the road, it can not be overlooked. With bright walls and red tile roof seeks the small chapel to the sky. It seems as the flanks of the mountain give this pressure and stretched, ascending steeply to the building in their midst in order to lift it far above the landscape.

Who would not like too up too high - and the beauty of the scene transforms into a magical attraction. At the foot of Chapel Hill and are Hirschau Wurmlingen. From both places we are trying to discover which way is up would be the least inconvenience. The view makes up somewhat subdued at first, but we go from Wurmlingen on the road. Quickly dispel any concerns, because the walk is much shorter, more pleasant and easier than previously suspected. On the northern side of the path leads past fields, pastures and orchards, the southern slope is planted with wine, the autumn leaves cover the ground.

A final rise and we are at the St. Wurmlinger Remigus chapel. Since the year 1050 is here, in 475 meters a church in its present form since the 17th Century - that reveals an inscription. Through a door leads into the small cemetery, surrounded by thick walls and a platform for a spectacular panoramic view: Way above the Neckar valley to the Swabian Alb are over the horizon, even the towers of the castle to see Hohenzollern. Rottenburg is spread out before us, Tübingen hides its old town behind the near Spitsbergen, on the other side of the castle Roseck Ammertal shines in the afternoon sun.

Ludwig Uhland was written in 1805 after a walk to the chapel of a poem that captures the special aura of this place:

Chapel

Up above the chapel, still stands
Gaze into the valley. Down below
sings at Wies' and source
happy and bright the shepherd boy.

sorry down the bell sounds, the body
Eerie choir;
silence are the happy songs,
And the boy listens up.

Up there it is taken out to the grave, which
rejoiced in the valley;
shepherd, shepherd boy!
you to sing there once.

are created ambivalent feelings here if you enjoy the impressive landscape. The World in mind will be the same birds spread their wings and swing freely in the air, while graves behind the backs of them tell how small and fleeting life is.
